All the members loved it.  I got a promotion and am working in a different office now and unfortunetly Winston can't come with me anymore. some co workers asked if i would keep Winston Friday as a tradition and post a picture of him every friday so here we go! The tradition is still on!

Thirst Thursday...

Perfect Margarita

Fresh Strawberry Margaritas
recipe for one margarita, can easily be multiplied
2 ounces Grand Marnier
1 1/2 ounces Tequila
2 ounces lime juice
2 1/2 ounces strawberry simple syrup [recipe below]
lime + fresh strawberries for garnish
salt + sugar for the rim
Rim the ridge of your glass with a lime wedge and dip in a mix of margarita salt + sugar [I used about 3 tablespoons salt to 2 teaspoons sugar]. Fill the glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, grand marnier, simple syrup and lime juice with ice, and shake for about 30 seconds. Pour over ice and squeeze in lime slices and add a few strawberries.
For strawberry simple syrup: combine equal parts sugar and water, bring to a boil and let sugar dissolve, then turn off heat and let cool completely. Combine 1 cup simply syrup + 1 1/2 cups slices strawberries in a blender and blend until combined. I don’t mind strawberry seeds, but if you’d like you can strain the mixture over a fine mesh strainer to remove the seeds.
This recipe can be easily doubled, quadrupled, etc. Since everyone’s tastes differ, add simple syrup 1/4 cup at a time and go from taste. I also suggest buying the lime juice if you plan on making a pitcher (or 2) considering you’d have to squeeze a billion limes to get enough juice.

Thirsty Thursday

Spiced and Spiked Cider

For my first thirsty thirsday post I thought I would start getting into the holiday spirit and share some cider!

via lisa white

Spiced and Spiked Cider
Serving Size: serves 4
Ingredients
  • 1 tsp. whole cloves
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 whole star anise
  • juice of 1 orange
  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 3/4 cup spiced rum (use more/less, if desired)
  • orange peel
Method
  1. Add the cloves, cinnamon sticks and star anise to a large saucepan over medium heat; lightly toast the spices in the pan for 1 minute.
  2. Add the orange juice and apple cider, simmer, but do not boil the cider for 10 minutes.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and add the rum.
  4. Ladle the cider into serving mugs and garnish with a strip of orange peel. To keep warm, the cider can stay on very low heat while serving.

you can see the best that is hidden behind in every scene

‎"By removing the curtain of negative thoughts from your mind you can see the best that is hidden behind in every scene.

Throughout the day when thing s go wrong, check if you are able to remain unaffected. Also check how far you are able to see beyond each situation and see the positive aspect that is hidden within. Each day take the thought that whatever happens is for the best. Even when things go wrong make the practice of seeing the good aspect in the situation and if you are unable to do so, remain with the faith that everything happens for the best."
